Advice for the Next Administration and Congress
The ABA recently published the Sep./Oct. issue of the National Security Law Report (I’m the editor). The issue is entitled “Advice for the Next Administration and Congress” and it features a pretty balanced set of recommendations for President-Elect Obama and the Democrat Congress:
Judge James E. Baker (U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces) pens an essay entitled “A Running Start: Getting ‘Law Ready’ During a Presidential Transition”
Clark Kent Ervin (Aspen Institute) and James Carafano (Heritage Foundation) debate “Homeland SecurityReform Priorities for the Next Administration and Congress”
Jeff Greene (Project on National Security Reform) suggests reforms necessary to establish “A National Security System for the 21st Century”
Michael Posner (Human Rights First) and Michael Lewis (Ohio Northern University College of Law) debate the topic of torture and coercive interrogation in their essays entitled “Advice to the Next Administration and Congress Regarding Coercive Interrogation”
Mark R. Shulman (Pace Law School) recommends that the next President and Congress work to end the “Global War on Terror” and instead establish “The Four Freedoms as Good Law and Grand Strategy”
